Team Ward visit Dandelion Time for a day of volunteering

On Friday 14 October, members of Team Ward spent the day volunteering at one of their chosen charity partners, Dandelion Time, based in West Farleigh, Maidstone.

Dandelion Time helps children, and their families, struggling with trauma, often arising from physical or emotional abuse, neglect and domestic violence. Their approach, centered around the therapeutic setting, has proven to improve confidence, enhance emotional well-being and develop relationships between children and their families. You can read more about Dandelion Time here.

On the day, the task for Team Ward was to create a long woodchip pathway through the animal section. Dandelion Time has a growing family of animals on site, the most recent edition being the alpacas who have now joined the sheep, donkeys and cats! It’s been found that for the children referred to Dandelion Time, establishing a connection with the animals is the first step in helping them begin to grow in confidence.

Team Ward shared the day with members of recruitment agency, Sauced, who were enjoying their first experience of volunteering on site. It was very satisfying to see two companies collaborate on one central goal, to support such a great charity.

Brian Stroud, SHEQ Director at Ward, comments, “We were delighted to support, in some small way, the amazing positive impact Dandelion makes by spending another rewarding day maintaining their farm grounds. The environment gives a real taste of the therapeutic benefit the families must feel when among nature.”
