Helen Hall Raises over £1500 for Abigail’s Footsteps
Congratulations to Ward Security’s Helen Hall, who has completed two half-marathons to raise awareness and funds for Abigail’s Footsteps.
Helen said: “A huge great big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Tracy and I with our run. In total we have raised £1511.00 – £831.00 from the lockdown run and £680.00 from the live one this year”
Abigail’s Footsteps is a baby loss charity providing support and counselling for bereaved parents and and families as well as specialist bereavement training for midwives and healthcare professionals.
Since 2010, Abigail’s have worked to improve the way bereaved parents are cared for by hospitals and to better educate midwives on how to care for grieving parents. Sadly, stillbirths and neo-natal deaths occur daily, yet many hospitals are not equipped to deal with the parental care required, they have inadequate facilities and their staff receive little to no bereavement training.
By working with medical professionals to understand the issues and seek solutions our charity has helped many families. One of their greatest contributions as a charity has been the creation and funding of the Abi cooling cot which allows parents valuable time to spend with their baby before saying goodbye. These cots are distributed UK wide wherever the need and as funding allows. Ward Security recently funded an Abi Cooling Cot to Wythenshawe Hospital near Manchester.
The charity is funded entirely by kind donations and fund raising activity. More info can be found at https://www.abigailsfootsteps.co.uk/
Well done Helen and Tracy!
