Mayoral Thanks For Ward Security’s Dog Team

MAYOR THANKS SECURITY TEAM

FOR KEEPING BROMLEY RESIDENTS SAFE

The Mayor of the London Borough of Bromley has meet with the dog handling security team of Ward Security to officially thank and acknowledge them for their role in keeping the Bromley community safe during the pandemic.

Ward Security’s team of eight professional dog handlers are contracted by the local authority to patrol and look after 156 parks and open spaces within the London Borough of Bromley.  During the national lockdown, the role of the security officers included talking to members of the public specifically about social distancing, disbanding groups that were congregating in parks and providing a reassuring visibility to the local community.

Ali Tod, Director of the Canine Team at Ward Security said “We have worked for Bromley council for over 16 years and our team know the local areas and parks extremely well.  At the start of the lockdown there was a primary concern about groups forming in parks and our team was involved in dispersing groups and getting the message across in support of the police.  The patrolling of parks is important at anytime to help people feel safe and relaxed when they are out enjoying their walks and daily exercise and we take great pride in helping to reassure people particularly during what has been a really difficult time.”

Councillor Hannah Gray, the Mayor of London Borough of Bromley said “It is extremely important to me that we thank and recognise the valuable role these frontline security officers and their dogs have played during the lockdown.  Helping to maintain the peace in the Borough and allow our residents to relax and feel safe when out and about.  While these officers might feel like they are just doing their day job, for us it has been a crucial role that has helped reassure everyone who lives here that our parks and open spaces are welcoming places to take daily exercise and relax.”

Ward Security manages one of the largest, privately owned dog teams in the UK.  The company provides general purpose patrol dogs as well as specialist search dogs.  The canine team is managed and trained to the highest standard by a former Metropolitan Police dog instructor.  Dog welfare is paramount to Ward Security with all dogs living with their handlers and forming close bonds.
