Ward Security to Protect Bromley Parks
The London Borough of
Bromley has appointed Ward Security to protect all 155 parks
and open spaces within its boundaries.
Kent-based Ward will
provide 24-hour mobile dog-handling and security patrols to
safeguard park users and staff as well as drive down anti-social
behaviour.
The six-figure contract runs for three years with an
option to extend to five. Officers from Bromley’s Police
were consulted throughout the negotiations between the council
and Ward Security’s management team, playing a fully
supportive role and advising on all legal aspects of the contract.
Special
training for all Ward Security dog-handling teams is being
supervised by ex-Metropolitan Police experts. The teams use
German Shepherds and the dogs will be homed by owners on
a one-to-one basis.
All patrol vehicles are fitted with
in-car CCTV surveillance systems and continuous video footage
will be recorded.
“Security is absolutely vital to ensure our parks don’t
become ‘no go’ areas,” says Bromley Leisure
and Tourism Councillor, Tim Stevens. “We needed to take
action and appointing Ward’s dog handling teams was the
most efficient and flexible way of meeting our needs.”
Ward Security operations director, Kevin Ward
adds: “The
London Borough of Bromley dog handling contract is one of the
largest in the southeast. We now provide security services to
more than 300 parks and public spaces throughout the region.”
