Ward Security is one of two new sponsors for the prestigious 2010 Dartford and Gravesham Business Awards.
Having already sponsored the Medway Business Awards, the Rochester-based bespoke security solutions provider is joining an illustrious list of local sponsors for the Awards, which has enjoyed a successful five years of growth.
Last year’s overall winner for the Dartford and Gravesham Business Awards 2009 was construction and civil engineers, Livis Limited, based in Dartford.
Thames Gateway (Kent) Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in getting these awards off the ground prompted by the massive regeneration planned for North Kent and the many thriving businesses in the area that it was felt deserved recognition.
Commenting on the decision to sponsor the Awards, Ward Security managing director David Ward said: “We are proud to be sponsoring the 2010 Dartford and Gravesham Business Awards. In the current tough economic climate, those businesses that have gone the extra mile through determination, hard work and the highest levels of customer service deserve to be applauded.
“Dartford and Gravesham are home to many excellent businesses and we look forward to seeing a high calibre of entry into this year's awards.”
The local Messenger papers drive the awards, publishing entry forms and details. Each entrant is profiled and this year will also go on Kent Online. The awards has a dedicated website where entrants can register and download an entry form and view progress updates.
The awards finally comprise 12 finalists chosen from the many entries all of whom must have a turnover of no more than £5.6 million and a panel of three judges, a banker, accountant and lawyer sift through each entry until they come down to the final 12.
The judges then spend two days visiting each company then whittle those down to a Dartford, a Gravesham and an overall winner. The judges are open to deciding special merit awards such as new business, or best entrepreneur.
The gala night will be in June 2010 and held at the Woodville Halls, Gravesend.
• The closing date for this year's entries is 26 March 2010. For further information and entry forms go to www.dgbawards.co.uk
